The honest version
Most inherited silver does not need replacing. It needs rethinking.
Maybe you have a bracelet you never wear, a collection of mismatched pieces, or a ring that doesn't suit you any more. The value is not just in the silver, but rather in knowing where it came from.
I will inspect the metal, hallmarks and stones properly, then tell you what is possible with what you bring before we draw up a design. If something can't or shouldn't be reused, I will explain why.

02Remelt and reform

Reset the stones worth keeping.
I check them first, then we decide on the best way to reuse them. If you decide not to reuse them, I'll return them to you.

I will turn the idea into something metal can actually do.

A remodel should preserve what matters without tying you to the original design. It can be remodelled again in the future too, whether by you or by the next generation.

Stage 01
Bring the whole jewellery box.
Broken, tarnished, mismatched or strange—bring it all in. I will sort sterling silver from plated pieces, check hallmarks and talk through what you'd actually like me to do with it all.

Inspection / design brief
Stage 02
Inspect first. Design second.
I check the metal, settings, stones and overall condition before promising anything. Then we decide together what to keep, what to change and how the new piece should feel when worn.

Bench / transformation
Stage 03
Your project stays close to the bench.
I melt, form, shape, set and finish the piece here. The method depends on the design. Most work will be hand-fabricated, while other shapes may need to be cast. I will explain that choice beforehand.

Finish / final check
Stage 04
Finished to be worn, not stored.
The piece is cleaned, polished, thoroughly checked and hallmarked by Birmingham Assay Office where required. You inspect it, try it on and leave with silver that still carries the old story in a form made for wearing.

The non-negotiable bit
Your silver stays the same silver.
I don't trade your silver as scrap and then make the new piece from different metal. If it can be safely reused, the silver you bring is the silver I use, from the first inspection to the finished piece.
Old solder, plating and mixed alloys can affect what is possible, so I check every piece before any work begins. If extra silver or a different method is needed, I will explain why beforehand.

I grew up around this bench.
This is a family trade, not a franchise I bought into. Dad taught me the hand skills, and the workshop now has the modern kit to match them. You speak to me, I inspect your jewellery, and I am then the person responsible for the result.

Yes, where it is suitable. I first inspect and test it, then explain exactly what can be reused. The material you bring is the material I use for your project. No scrap credit or replacement metal.
02Can several pieces be combined?
Often, yes. Hallmarks, purity, solder and plating all matter, so bring everything and let me inspect it. I will tell you which pieces can be combined and whether any additional silver is needed.
03Can the original stones be reused?
Usually, yes, provided they are in suitable condition. I check each stone you bring before the design is finalised and explain if resetting, repolishing or replacing it would be better.
04Can you copy an idea or use an AI-generated design?
Bring sketches, references, Pinterest boards, screenshots, AI images, or anything else that helps explain what you're after. I will not copy another maker's protected design exactly, but I can identify what you like and adapt the idea into a workable original piece that is unique to you.
05Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours. For a longer design conversation, come in earlier in the morning and I can make sure we can go through everything properly.
06Can I send silver from elsewhere in the world?
Yes, by arrangement. Message me first so we can talk through the specifics. Use a tracked and insured service you trust. Parcels are recorded when opened in the workshop and again when the finished piece is packed for return.
07How much does remodelling cost?
There is no honest price I can give you without seeing the material you bring and understanding what you would like the finished piece to be. After inspection, I will give you a clear price and scope before any work starts. There will be no surprises or quiet additions to the price halfway through.
